The biggest milestone yet!

Today I am 24wks, 2 days. The exact gestation I was when my beautiful twins entered the world. Wow. I'm here, I'm still pregnant, my baby is alive and kicking with no sign of delivering soon. What a fantastic feeling. :)

How we got here..

In 2008 I had twins at 24+2 who passed away from complications of prematurity at 12 days old. After having so much trouble falling pregnant I was put on 50mg of Clomid and fell pregnant with this little miracle. The pregnancy was considered high risk for 2 reasons. 1 reason is I have a congenital heart condition and the other reason is my previous history of preterm labour. This blog was supposed to be a story of coping with pregnancy after loss. At the end I was supposed to have a healthy full term baby.

What actually happened was I birthed my son at 25+5 weeks. We had a long tough hospital journey with many complications. This blog is very in depth and honest and gives you a very real account of what it is like to have a baby in Intensive Care.

I am pleased to say, I did get my happy ending. It took a while but I brought my son home.. He is healthy and happy and doesn't appear to have any long term affects. Although this will tell over time.. Jett is a true Miracle.. Enjoy the read. I hope it inspires someone to believe in miracles... They do happen.. :)

*Update: In June 2012 it was confirmed that jett has a moderate hearing loss in both ears. He was fitted with hearing aids and has started auditory verbal intervention. The hearing loss is most likely due to his prematurity. He had many risk factors such as low birth weight, infection treated with gentamycin and long term ventilation*
